I stumbled upon the town of Zug while exhausting the internet with searches of where to stay for three full days in Switzerland. We settled on Zug primarily because we found a hotel closer to some sights we wanted to visit, but not too far from Zurich Airport so we wouldn’t fall asleep driving after an 11 hour flight.
It’s turned out to be a town full of stunning, old buildings on meandering cobblestone streets, all so well preserved. Our hotel is in almost a little three sided piazza for lack of a better word, with the one side being the Zugersee. We ate here our first evening and wandered to the water’s edge. On our way there, we discovered the two bird aviaries, called the Landsgemeindeplatz Aviaries. There are about 50 different types of birds along with a family of Brazilian Guinea Pigs.
Here are some pictures of the area where we are staying and of our first partial day in Zug.
